A thriving Tees eatery is proving there’s more than just food on the menu at its premises.
While Baker Street Kitchen’s popular day-time and Sunday Lunch menus are now available to order on the Just Eat app, revellers are also using the venue for a range of seasonal events and private bookings.
Simon Fletcher refurbished Baker Street in April last year and the restaurant has grown from strength-to-strength as it benefits from Middlesbrough’s buzzing food quarter and night-time scene.
Nine new jobs were created to accommodate Simon’s new menus, taking the total number of full and part-time staff to 21, including new head chef James Thorburn, who had previously worked at Cena, Muse and The Cleveland Tontine, and new manager Georgina Cornelius, who previously worked at Rockliffe Hall’s Brasserie.
And while their food is going down a treat – including very popular vegan options – their events are also causing a stir.
A Mason’s Gin Night in early February was quickly followed by a special Valentine’s weekend, and Baker Street offered 50% off all pancakes on Shrove Tuesday.
A Murder Mystery evening for budding Sherlock Holmeses was held in March – complete, of course, with the elementary three-course meal – while two Vegan Nights also sold out.
Add to that a number of private bookings for parties and conferences – and Baker Street Kitchen has become a real go-to place in Middlesbrough.
“We’re delighted with how business is going,” said Simon.
“Our events are proving really popular. We’re always trying to think of something a bit different.
“We’ve also had to expand with more staff due to the popularity of our day-time and Sunday lunch menus, which are now available to order from Just Eat.”
Baker Street Kitchen, on the corner of Baker Street and Albert Road in Middlesbrough, is open 8am-6pm Monday to Thursday, 8am-11pm on Fridays, 9am-11pm Saturdays and 9am-4pm Sundays.
Menus can be viewed online (and on Just Eat) and tables can be booked at www.bakerstreetkitchen.com or by calling 01642 210404.
