Teesside Hospice is appealing for runners to join its team at the Simply Health Great North Run 2019.
Following the results of the general entry ballot, the charity is offering places to those who missed out on securing one earlier this month.
Kim Bradley, Senior Community and Events Fundraiser at Teesside Hospice, said: “If you are a seasoned runner or hoping to do your first Great North Run, we would love to welcome you to #TeamTeesside and support you all the way!”
“We offer all our runners a fantastic support package and will do all that we can to ensure that your Great North Run experience is one you will never forget.”
Ryan Pugh, 25, took part in the Great North Run in support of Teesside Hospice in 2018 and said the whole experience was amazing.
He said: “Joining #TeamTeesside at the Great North Run was a way of me saying thank you for the brilliant care Joyce Hood, my wife’s Grandma, received at Teesside Hospice, along with everyone who continues to feel the benefit of their work. Teesside Hospice is a local charity and I love what they do.
“I think it’s important to support your local charity, since they support the community we live in.
“The atmosphere on the day was brilliant, the support from the crowd was amazing. With every training and race mile, Teesside Hospice was always at the back of my mind, it carried me through and kept me motivated. I would encourage anyone to join #TeamTeesside in 2019.”
To run for Teesside Hospice, the registration fee is £56 and the minimum sponsorship is £300. Once registered you will receive a training top, a fundraising pack, sponsor forms, a personalised fundraising page and continued support.
Teesside Hospice needs to raise £6,000 each and every day of the year, in order to provide care to patients and families facing cancer and other life limiting illnesses.
This is only made possible through fundraising events such as the Great North Run, helping the hospice provide care to around 3,000 local people every year.
To secure your place today, visit www.teessidehospice.org or call the Fundraising Team on 01642 811145 (Mon-Fri, 9am-5pm). If you have successfully secured a place in the general ballot, you can still run for Teesside Hospice – call for more details.
