Property developer John King and wife Julie have built a truly remarkable Nunthorpe home set over 6,800 sq ft at Upsall Grange Gardens, off Flatts Lane in Middlesbrough.

Boasting three floors sitting impressively above a short, sloping drive, this £1.25m-valued property enjoys seclusion and privacy and screams the highest quality throughout.

John sketched the design before the plans went to the architect, and did all of the civil engineering and infrastructure work himself.
The house has 240 panes of energy-efficient K Glass which reflects heat back inside, while everything has been fitted with comfort and high-end living in mind.

Creative John has even built a stunning glasstopped dining room table with wooden sleepers and sections of polished-up railway track to go alongside the kitchen on the open plan ground floor, one of numerous unique features.
He’ll also be installing an outdoor hot tub when the weather warms up to round off what is a genuinely spectacular Teesside home.
“We both absolutely love it here,” says John, 48. “I pride myself on attention to detail and quality, and we’ve put our heart and soul into it.
“It was scary doing it open plan, because we thought ‘Is it going to be homely? Is it going to be warm and nice?’
“But it’s probably one of the most homely places that we have built.
“Nunthorpe has always been a prestige place to live and build in, and I’m very proud of what Striking – the stunning Upsall Grange Gardens, off Flatts Lane in Nunthorpe, is our featured property.
And the couple couldn’t be happier with the location.
“It’s perfect because it has a countryside feel,” John adds. “And everything else you could need as a family, such as schools and walking opportunities, are just down the road.
“One of my twin daughters is on holiday in Australia at the moment and wants to come home already because she is missing the view from her bedroom window. That says it all really.”
John and Julie’s stunning home is part of their own development at Upsall Grange Gardens, as they completely transform what used to be the site of a care home.
And they currently have one of what will be five 5,000 sq ft homes on the market for £850,000, which will be completed by April.
