It was a double celebration when Pie Jackers hosted the launch of the latest issue of Tees Life, with the prize pies-winners having recently won a dramatic rates battle that had threatened the future of the business.
More than 30 Teesside movers and shakers joined together to mark the launch of the winter/spring issue of the region’s premiere lifestyle magazine, featuring cover star Sara Davies of Dragon’s Den fame.
Hosting the event at their premises on Albert North were Pie Jackers’ Neil and Julie Fletcher who announced their own special news.

The couple were in an exuberant mood, having won a battle against a large rates bill which could have seen the already much-loved eaterie having to close its doors.
It seemed fitting that on a night which celebrated the best of the region’s lifestyle offerings, Julie announced that the rates bill had been significantly reduced – and it was now full steam ahead for the successful artisan pie company.
Those who joined in the night of fun and feasting included Pie Jackers’ Albert North neighbour Peter Turner from interior design specialists Cocoon and Bauer and Simon Fletcher from another local business, Baker Street Kitchen, as well as a wealth of friends and business owners.
Others who told guests about their recent achievements included Lou Tonner of Wander Films, Ranjeet Khanda of Linthorpe Pharamacy, Adam Richardson of Joe Cornish Gallery, Jamie Pennington of Viral Effect and Bob Makin of Sock Monkey.
Dave Allan and Martin Walker, directors of Resolution Publishing which produces Tees Life along with Tees Business, praised Tees Life editor Julie Burniston and new sales manager Chris Garbutt for their efforts.
The Tees Life team is now working towards the May issue which they aim to make the biggest and best yet.
