First Bump & Me event hailed a success

A brand new event created purely for expectant and new parents in the North East has been hailed a huge success after a sell out day at Wynyard Hall.

Teesside based Water Babies, which swims babies and toddlers in pools across the Tees Valley, Durham and Darlington, teamed up with renowned retailer Mamas & Papas to expand into events.

The first in a new series of unique parent-to-be events took place this month and offered over 140 families attending an afternoon of luxury treats and pampering, alongside expert industry advice.

Pamela Hargreaves, owner of Water Babies in Durham and Teesside, said: “‘Not long after I had my daughter Alice, I had a thought about how good it would be to organise a big baby fayre in the North East, that combined boutique shopping with an opportunity to meet like-minded mummies to be.

“Fast forward four years and with the support of Mamas & Papas and 26 local small baby and pregnancy businesses that idea became a reality.”

Lucy Burns, marketing executive at Mamas & Papas, said: “It was a pleasure to be able to sponsor the event and work alongside Water Babies. We had a wonderful time and received some amazing feedback from customers.

“I would like to thank Water Babies for giving us this fantastic opportunity to be involved with such a fabulous event.”

In addition to boutique stalls and advice, the event saw families walking away with prizes such as swimming lessons, nursery furniture, baby feeding equipment, spa days and £500 worth of Mamas & Papas shopping vouchers.

Pamela added: “The day was brilliant and the feedback we’ve received so far has been amazing. The icing on the cake was that we also managed to raise £430 for Tommy’s the Baby Charity.

“We’re so thrilled with how it went, we’re already putting the wheels in motion for the next event.”
