Rockliffe Hall can now release more details about its first Artisan Food Fair, being held as part of the resort’s inaugural Festival of Food in February next year.
The fair will run on the first weekend of the festival, February 2 and 3, 2019, between 10am and 4pm, with plenty of food companies inviting visitors to sample and buy their products in the Rockliffe Suite.
Exhibitors confirmed so far include North Chocolates, piccalilli company Calder’s Kitchen, The Sweet Beet Condiments and The Clucking Pig Company, which recently won Best Game Farmers’ Market Stall at the national Eat Game Awards for its gourmet Scotch eggs.
Guests will also be able to tuck into dishes from the Caribbean, Middle East, Greece and Germany while event sponsors G&G Goodfellows, will be showing visitors how to ‘bring home the restaurant’ look with their new tableware brand ‘Goodfellows at Home’.
Rockliffe’s three executive chefs will host live demos on Saturday, February 2.
The Clubhouse’s Paul O’Hara will be joined by Simon Raine of Weardale Cheese, The Orangery’s Richard Allen will cook with Lizzy Hodcroft from The Sweet Beet and Aaron Craig, from The Brasserie, will be joined by Nick Fairly, of Fairly’s Fine Condiments.
On the Sunday, ahead of their special, sold out dinner in the evening, The Great British Menu chefs, Dave Coulson, Danny Parker and Daniel Fletcher, will be showcasing their talent at the food fair when they’re joined live on stage by the region’s top food producers, using their ingredients to cook dishes.
On each day of the Artisan Food Fair there’ll also be a Gin School, Whisky School and Rum School, where guests can be taken on a journey of their chosen spirit, sampling up to 6 different drinks. Prices: £25 (for 5 G&Ts or 5 Rums) and £35 (6 Whisky tastings).
The Artisan Food Fair kicks off a packed week of special lunches, dinners and food and wine events planned for Rockliffe Hall’s Festival of Food, culminating in a Black Tie Gala Dinner on Saturday 9th February.
Chefs including Andrew Pern (The Star Inn on Tour), TV chef and author Mark Greenaway, James Mackenzie (Pipe and Glass Inn) and renowned Jersey-based chef Mark Jordan, will all be cooking at exclusive dining experiences during the week.
The resort’s head gardener, Phil Mennell, will host a lunch and tour of the kitchen gardens while head sommelier, Daniel Jonberger, will pass on his wine wisdom at a wine and food pairing masterclass. There’ll also be a Taste of the North East Celebration Banquet with guest chefs from The Bay Horse, Hurworth, Nova Seafood Grill, Chadwicks Inn Maltby and The Crathorne Arms.
Over the eight day event, money will be raised for Hospitality Action with big prize raffles at some of the evening dinners.
The charity offers vital assistance to those working, or who have worked within hospitality in the UK and who find themselves in crisis.
